War is a Racket

This speech War is a Racket, later adapted into a short book, is often regarded as one of the most influential anti-war literature written in contemporary America. Written by a former general, Smedley D. Butler.

Butler was regarded (during his time), as the most decorated marine in U.S history. Thus, the information Butler provides is not only controversial, but incredibly truthful to the reason behind the U.S’s involvement with many of the wars that have passed. As Butler had been directly involved with said dealing during his time in the U.S military.

Touching upon topics such as war profiteering and the behind the scene agreements between government and big business. Oftentimes, men in suits would meet with the leader of a country to make an offer the leader couldn’t refuse. Money, sex, power or the bullet were the choices.
